Kids' Night Out!

We had so much fun with South Amboy Elementary School students at our Babysitting Night on December 16! The event included craft and game stations, along with impromptu sessions of Red Light Green Light and Duck, Duck, Goose... multiple movie changes... and dancing to Kidz Bop Holiday Hits. 🤣

At the end of the night, we had way too much pizza left over, but the treats all went. (Sorry, Parents! hehehe) Special thanks to our student volunteers and our wonderful Facilities crew!

PTO Meeting Minutes (Sept. 14, 2022)

Did you miss the last PTO meeting? We've outlined everything that was discussed here.

Mark your calendars for our next General Meeting on 11/15, at 6:30pm in the MHS cafeteria. We'll also stream again on Zoom. :)

In the meantime, we're looking forward to seeing many of you at Back-to-School Night at the E.S.! We'll be handing out info and freebies — and we'll be selling spirit wear and Pure Vida bracelets. Be sure to stop by our table in the cafeteria!

Last thing (for now): Please sign up for PTO Membership if you haven't done so yet. The form also allows you to volunteer to be a class parent for your child's elementary school homeroom. We're still missing a ton and could use your help!

Are you Class Parent material?

If you came here to read this, we think you are!

Class parents act as a liaison between the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and your child's elementary homeroom teacher, as well as the other parents in the class.

Being a class parent is more than an opportunity to have fun at your child's class parties (although that's definitely a perk), it's your chance to get to know the other students in the class and their families, and to demonstrate to your child the importance you place on their education.

We know that if you're considering doing it for the first time, it might feel overwhelming. You're probably wondering, "What do I have to do, exactly?" Here are some basics...

As an SAPTO Class Parent, you:

  • are our direct line of contact with the parents in your class;
  • coordinate class celebrations (Halloween, Holiday, and End of Year) with your child's teacher;
  • attend bi-monthly meetings and communiate with parents afterwards to let them know of important news/dates;
  • assist your teachers during Fun Day and/or class trips;
  • plan the Class Donation basket for the Founder’s Day Tricky Tray in years that it is held.

That about sums it up! We're in the process of updating our Class Parent handbook, which will be reviewed at a mandatory Class Parent meeting on Tuesday, October 4, mostly like at the ES Cafeteria. You'll get to meet your grade representative, review our handbook, and get your official badge. :)

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at sapto08879@gmail.com.

And if you're ready to dive in, please head over to https://sapto-22-23.cheddarup.com to sign up!

Welcome to the 22-23 School Year

On behalf of the South Amboy PTO Executive Board, I extend warm greetings to those of you in SA Schools for the first time — and, of course, a welcome back to all those returning! Please take a few moments to read this welcome letter, which includes information on who we are and what we do, as well as how you can join our efforts.

Throughout the year, please be sure to keep your eye on our website, social media channels (Facebook, Instagram), and email communications for the latest PTO updates. We also invite you to reach out at any time with questions or feedback. Don't be shy about sending an email to sapto08879@gmail.com.

Have an excellent school year, and thank you in advance for your contributions and commitment to our community!

Judy
SAPTO President

Join the PTO!

With the first day of school right around the corner—Are you ready?!—our 22-23 SAPTO Membership Drive is officially underway, and we welcome everyone in the South Amboy Public Schools community to join us! Head to https://sapto-22-23.cheddarup.com to renew your membership or to join for the first time. (Share with your friends!)

Joining doesn't mean you have to volunteer for everything we do (although that would be really nice, hehe). It shows you believe in us and the work we do for the school community; dues get rolled right back in to supporting our efforts.

Membership is $10 per family and can be paid right through the link. You can also indicate interest in being a class parent for your child's elementary school home room. We will be naming class parents in several weeks, so do fill out the form ASAP if interested.

In the meantime, remember to mark your calendars for:

~ Tuesday, Sept. 7, 6:30pm: Meet & Greet with our superintendent, Dr. Frederick G. Williams, at the South Amboy Arts Alliance gallery on No. Broadway

~ Wednesday, Sept. 14, 6:30pm: Our first general meeting of the school year at the MHS cafeteria!

Here's hoping you all have a wonderful weekend free of last-minute prep stress.

2021-22 Culture and Climate Surveys

As the Elementary and Middle-High Schools begin to prepare for the 2022-23 school year, the district is once again gathering feedback on the current culture and climate of our schools from students, staff, and parents.

Please take a moment to fill out the appropriate survey on the District HIB page. (If you have children in both schools, please complete the survey for each.) Each survey takes about 3 minutes, and all responses are completely confidential.

Our schools can't make improvements without your feedback! Thanks in advance.
